Running just to catch myself

See if you can pick out the common theme:

Here's what keeps me sooo busy. Well...work is a given. But besides that...

1. Mission trip to Bolivia! I took a team thru January 12. There's a blog on that...

2. Running! A friend Tee and I ran a half marathon in Austin last Sunday. We finished well, and spent lots of time training. There's just such a good feeling to accomplishing something so...hard! It's a good reminder to me to never give up. Life is a challenge, and many times it feels so impossible to finish strong, but Paul would remind us to keep on with perseverence pressing on towards to goal of the Higher Calling...

And, speaking of running...last weekend we did a 5K and I did win a prize! :) I wrote out a bunch of verses about perseverance and running from the Bible (to keep me motivated!) and this one always convicts me: I Corinthians 9:24-25 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
So as much as I like running, it's really neat to see how training your body is compared to training your mind to be more Christlike. Not easy--it actually seems impossible most times, but with the power of Christ in us we can overwhelmingly conquer.

3. Planning a Llama Leap 5K to benefit the ministry in Bolivia! Check it out. This year, we will have one in Texas AND one in Ohio!!!

Do you feel motivated to lace up your running shoes and go for a jog yet?! ;) It is so good for you in so many ways!
